Uffizi Gallery: a real art book!

This tour is focused on the the Uffizi Gallery.
We skip the line thanks to reserved tickets and we go directly inside the museum.
At the entrance, your guide explains you the story of this building: everything begins during the reign of the Grand Duke Cosimo I de’ Medici. In 1560 he asked Giorgio Vasari to design a modern building for the administrative offices: this huge palace became the symbol of the new Medici Era. Step by step, the Uffizi became the house of the Medici art collection and in the 17th century it looked like a museum: rich people visited it, fascinated by the marvelous collection owned by the Medici.
Our tour starts from the second floor with an incredible view of the old frescoed corridors, flanked on either side by Classic statues of God, Goddesses and Roman Emperors.
In the first room, dedicated to the Medieval Art, you admire the “Majesty” by Giotto, a Florentine artist who took his first steps on the path of Renaissance art.
Then we are captured by the Adoration of the Magi by Gentile da Fabriano, and the paintings by Piero della Francesca and Filippo Lippi.
Finally, we are in the heart of the Uffizi, the two new rooms dedicated to Botticelli’s masterpieces: the Primavera and The Birth of Venus.
After that, a little stop in front of the panorama; the Arno River, Piazzale Michelangelo, belvedere of Florence, the Ponte Vecchio and the Vasari Corridor. Then we enter the room dedicated to Michelangelo. Here we have the only wooden panel painting by the Florentine master, the Tondo Doni.
In a few steps we reach the beautiful terrace of the Uffizi and then we go downstairs to meet Raffaello, with his sweet Madonna col cardellino, Leonardo da Vinci, with his Baptism of Christ and the Annunciation, and then Titian, with his seductive Venus of Urbino.
Our tour inside the museum ends in the room of Caravaggio, with the fearful head of Medusa and Bacco.
Outside, the last stop is Piazza della Signoria, the political centre of Florence and one of the most suggestive outdoor museum. In this beautiful square you can find some of the most famous attractions in Florence: the Palazzo Vecchio, the Loggia dei Lanzi and the Neptune Fountain. Palazzo Vecchio is a Medieval governmental palace, residence of the Medici Family in the 16th century. Under the Loggia dei Lanzi, an original Gothic porch, we can observe a collection of monumental sculptures: the bronze Perseus by Benvenuto Cellini, the Rape of the Sabine (Ratto delle Sabine) by Giambologna. In front of the Palazzo Vecchio we see the Ammannati’s Neptune Fountain, the Bandinelli’s Ercole and Caco and the replica of Michelangelo’s David!
