The best of Florence in few steps!!!

Our exploration starts in Piazza della Repubblica (Republic Square), the ancient Roman forum, then Old Market and now the “salotto buono” of Florence. Then you will shout out “Wow” in front of the view of Piazza del Duomo (the Duomo square). Here you can admire the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, topped by the huge Brunelleschi’s Dome, and its marble statues and decorations turning golden at sunset. We later ascend the Giotto’s Bell Tower with its 414 steps to reach the top, and the Romanesque Baptistery, embellished by the famous Porta del Paradiso (the Gate of Haven).
The tour goes on with a walk through the Medieval District, called Dante District. We move to Piazza della Signoria, the political centre of Florence and one of the most suggestive outdoor museum. In this beautiful square you can find some of the most famous attractions in Florence: the Palazzo Vecchio, the Loggia dei Lanzi and the Neptune Fountain. Palazzo Vecchio, the Medieval governmental palace, was residence of the Medici Family and now the city hall of Florence: its tower is the symbol of power of Florence over the centuries. Under the Loggia dei Lanzi we can see a collection of monumental sculptures like the bronze Perseus by Benvenuto Cellini or the Rape of the Sabine (Ratto delle Sabine) by Giambologna. The outdoor museum housed in this square was created starting from the Ammannati’s Neptune Fountain, the Bandinelli’s Ercole and Caco and the replica of Michelangelo’s David!
Then we stop in front of Porcellino Market (the Piggy market), the famous Florentine leather market. Under this beautiful 16th century porch, you can find the most famous good luck of Florence!!
In a few steps we reach the Ponte Vecchio (the Old Bridge), the oldest bridge of Florence: on either side we can admire shining windows of goldsmiths and silversmiths and the incredible Vasari Corridor, private passage made for the Medici Family in the 16th century. After this walking tour you have free time to eat local food or make shopping in the city centre. If you prefer, in 3 hours you can visit the Academy Gallery where you can admire the original David by Michelangelo; the Santa Croce Cathedral where Michelangelo and Galileo’s tombs are housed; or the Uffizi Museum, to admire the Renaissance paintings. On the way back to the port, it is possible to stop enjoying the Leaning Tower of Pisa! Choose this tour and let yourself be surrounded by the magical atmosphere of Florence!
